Aktuelle wissenschaftliche Schwerpunkte sind:

• die Anwendung und Weiterentwicklung neuer MR Methoden bei Multipler Sklerose: Q-space Analyse der langsamen Diffusionskomponenten, Arterial Spin Labelling (ASL) Perfusionsimaging, Whole BRAIN NAA Ganz-Hirn-NAA Messungen, Natrium MRT, Analysen der stimulierten Hirnaktivität und der Funktionellen Konnektivität bei nicht stimulierter Hirnaktivität und serielle Hirnvolumen MR-Analysen basierend auf Voxel-guided- Morphometry.
• Untersuchungen zur Korrelation von klinischen und neuropsychologischen Markern mit strukturellen und funktionellen MR Charakteristika. Hierbei stehen Veränderungen akuter fokaler Läsionen, Veränderungen in der normal erscheinenden weissen Substanz wie auch chronische neurodegenerative Elemente der Pathologie im Focus.
• Verbesserung der Bildgebung des Rückenmarks.
• Einsatz der MRT in multizentrischen Studien als Selektionskriterium und zur Sicherheits- und Effizienzueberwachung.
